Short review of new (to me) budget MTM tailor, "Divine-Bespoke" on Ebay Canada
New review of budget MTM from trying a new tailor, “Divine-Bespoke” this time, on eBay Canada (based in Suzhou, China).
Paid $165 CAD total for a two-piece DBB shipped with tax. Prices are rising, three years ago same suit from same city would have been about $90 shipped. Meh.. inflation.
It’s a double-breasted wool blend, well constructed, and they followed instructions carefully. Fabric is significantly heavier than I expected, maybe 350–400 GSM with a twill weave — soft nap like flannel on the face, breathable, but definitely a warm suit for fall/winter weather.
I specified a regular fit in the blazer, and the result came out slightly baggy in the belly. I asked for lots of room in the seat and higher trouser rise since I’m in a wheelchair full-time. They complied, gave me a straight leg (not tapered) to accommodate medical equipment, and it was done well. They even added an expandable waistband at no extra charge, which was an unexpected bonus.
Wasn't perfect, the ticket pocket was faux, expected, the mouth of the inside breast pocket looks a little wonky, but... meh.. functional.
Strangely, all the MTM's I've gotten from Suzhou seem to have the same bright crimson piping on the inside, regardless of vendor, not sure why, must be a local thing.
First time wearing it, I paired it with a steel grey point-collar shirt, a steel grey silk tie with a starfield of tiny metallic blueberry/white/light grey squares (tied in a half-Windsor), and a satin weave silk pocket square in a puff. Accessories: light grey wool felt center-crease hat (not pictured), steel bracelet dress watch with a black rectangular face, and a stainless steel Tree of Life ring.
Took 35 days from payment to final delivery (middle of Canada). I immediately ordered another DBB from them — this time in navy pinstripe with a light sheen and lighter polyester fabric. I also added another cm to the sleeve measurement. This time I asked for modern fit in the blazer as the regular fit seemed a little baggy. I'll post that review when the suit arrives.
