Cords and Khakis for Fall


 Golden brown cotton corduroy blazer with khakis, white shirt with classic point collar, tie is a complex weave of alternating small metallic burnt orange squares and metallic copper squares in a nest of near black satin, tied with a single Windsor knot. Pocket square is a rustic open weave cotton with a dull striped pattern. Accessories are large frame browline glasses in tortiseshell and gold tone, Gold tone tie clip, rose gold tone watch with dark brown strap (not visible) turkish silver ring set with cat's eye lozenge shaped cabochon, hat (not shown), chocolate brown stingy brim, teardrop crown in wool felt.

  New review of budget MTM from trying a new tailor, “Divine-Bespoke” this time, on eBay Canada (based in Suzhou, China). Paid $165 CAD total for a two-piece DBB shipped with tax. Prices are rising, three years ago same suit from same city would have been about $90 shipped. Meh.. inflation. It’s a double-breasted wool blend, well constructed, and they followed instructions carefully. Fabric is significantly heavier than I expected, maybe 350–400 GSM with a twill weave — soft nap like flannel on the face, breathable, but definitely a warm suit for fall/winter weather. I specified a regular fit in the blazer, and the result came out slightly baggy in the belly. I asked for lots of room in the seat and higher trouser rise since I’m in a wheelchair full-time. They complied, gave me a straight leg (not tapered) to accommodate medical equipment, and it was done well. They even added an expandable waistband at no extra charge, which was an unexpected bonus. Schott NYC Perfecto

  You know, I've been lusting over getting a nice sheepskin bomber jacket before the winter comes, but looking over sellers in Canada, I keep coming across this style of biker jacket. It's been ubiquitous as long as I've been alive, but where did it come from...? I didn't know, so I had to waste some time and do a little research. Here's what I found... The black leather biker jacket — the one with wide lapels, an asymmetric front zipper, and a belt — originated in New York City in 1928, created by Irving Schott of the company Schott NYC. He designed it for Harley-Davidson and called it the Perfecto, after his favorite cigar brand. It was the first motorcycle jacket made from horsehide leather with a zippered front, which was a big innovation at the time (most jackets still used buttons).
